Why most people loss in gambling?

Featured Comment

Most of the gamblers lose money and never really win anything.

Here are some of the main reasons why most loss in gambling:

1) Thinking that the game is simple.

Most probably you have seen some streamer or youtuber getting lucky and you try to do the same thinking that its really simple. One of the biggest mistake to make.

2) Not properly understanding the risks and rewards.

Not taking risk or taking too much risk are both the same. We must try to balance the risks and rewards.

Yolo will work sometimes but most of the time it does not work.

3) Not having a non-emotional gambling system.

Emotions and us are inseparable but if you involve emotions when you are gambling its easy to carried away by it and at the end have nothing left.

The house and you have almost equally chances of winning ( 1-2% does not matter that much in a short session).

The house rely on discipline & consistency while most of us rely on our luck & emotions that's why most of us are losing.

What do you think why most loss in gambling?

The main reason I lose is because of my emotions. When I gamble with small amounts, I can win big, because there are little emotions involved in losing small amounts :)

Yes emotions does play a lot while gambling. We win for taking risk in gambling, if you do not take risk and try to play safe you will lose. With small amounts we take the necessary risk needed to win big that's why we win most of the time which is just the opposite with big amounts which we put in.

Tbh, the main reason is because house always have edge... so in the long run you will lose gambling.

Yeah the house always has a slight edge of 1-2% which does not add that much unless you are going to put that into a perspective of over a million bets.

My main reason I lose is greed probably lol, or my emotions, when I lose I want to win the money I lost back and so on, until I bust and get even more mad! :)

People get greedy that’s why !!

Greed is one sure thing why most loss. it usually does deprive us from our logical reasoning same as with our emotions like fear of losing or giving back profits.

It's the law of big numbers that add up dramasticly against you.

Law of big numbers is definitely there but all of us do equally contribute so it won't be that much of an issue for just one single player.

many people can't recover and lost more

Recovering or chasing losses is same as throwing money down the drain both does no good at all.

the main reason is gambling online is not really fair, could be in very long chains of bets probability will be correct, but not in 2k bets... so, you must fight against hedge and you must have a big big bankroll to win

it called house edge

House edge is there but you still have the player's edge which you can use to minimise the house edge.

i have no control over myself when i am losing and lose always

Control over yourself is most important part if you want to win in gambling. For entertainment and fun nothing is needed but for profits control is must.

I've been playing street dice since I was a kid and I've won a lot of cash that way...this computer gambling doesn't even compare to real casino or street gambling

Yes, both are totally different. Computer gambling can never match to it.

Random events does not relate much to probabilities that's why its hard to get any stable prediction. Yes, the best is to have a strict bankroll management and bank roll proportional to your earning frequency.

To be honest, a lot of people have different "thoughts" about what makes them carry on betting and making them lose their money.

For me it is my greediness. Once i know i'm doing good, i'm trying to get the most of it, of course mostly i just end up busting, but you know, go big or go home!

Also, it is emotions. If you won 0.1 from 1 satoshi, and then lost to 0.01, i bet you couldn't just withdraw, you would try to recover that sweet 0.1 btc you were at once.... Which would probably make you bust, unless your luck is that incredible.

@villareal @Kate @villareal Totally greed is number one reason for almost all loss in gambling. If I can double it that easily, why not try doubling it again and then after that once more the cycle never stops until losing it all most of the time.

No control on betting..

Yes without control everything goes out of bound in gambling pretty soon. We must all have some control while gambling.

Chasing losses is sure fast way to lose it all while chasing our emotions are in full control which is very dangerous. We no longer think rationally the only thought that's in our mind at that moment is to recover back what we have lost. Everything becomes secondary even the profits that we have made.

Because they dont know the game without strategy most of all they are greedy..

Without a proper strategy and game plan its easy for greed to have control. As gambling operates under the premise that greed can be satisfied by luck.

From experience it would be lack of self-control in attempting to win more and more especially when a lucky winning streak occurs that brings up your bankroll to a amount that you are not normally used to handle. At which there is only one ending that awaits in such a situation which is lose or in a more cryptogambling community familiar word : busted.

It is also the way the casino games of all kinds are specially designed to hook you in and never stop playing it, as it gives pleasure when a win happens and on the other hand losses occur you will started chasing for a recovery to feel better.

Greediness and emotion ... even i loses because of it. hahaha but its natural because if you win you deserve it.

Emotions, emotions and more emotions equates loss. Yeah we win some we lose some, we should try our best to not lose it all :D

Not only do I nearly always have decent (or even big!) wins - but I also nearly always lose soon after.

I am not wealthy by any means - but I think that the biggest reason is simply emotion, as you all mentioned above.

I wouldn't call it greed, in my case. But the thrill of getting a winning streak is sooooooo fun! The temptation to see how far the limit can be pushed always overpowers the reality that it's better to withdraw and come back another day.

Such is the gambling hobby.....some days we stick to the plan. But most days we do not. 😋
