Using Bitcoin In The Real World

Featured Comment

One issue that I think is not being discussed enough in crypto communities is where you can actually use Bitcoin. Instead of thinking about Bitcoin just as an investment, it's time to think about it as an actual currency (which was its purpose to begin with).

If cryptocurrency has any future, more retailers and small businesses need to enable crypto payments so people would actually have a real purpose of having Bitcoin and could conduct business with it.

Bitcoin is a virtual currency and as of now i don't think there is the slightest way possible for it to be used as a currency around the world because of it's slow confirmation of transactions.

Bitcoin are the money of the internet, the lightning network can make transactions much faster and useable for microtransactions, you can also get a crypto credit card.

It is bound to happen sooner or later, as of yet, crypto is still not that well known by the majority and not very many advertisement for it.. there are still a huge chunk of the population that does know anything about or perhaps have heard but vaguely, not enough to even spark aan interest... not everyone spends the day infront of a computer let alone surfing  the web.. the odds of them knowing about cryptos would slim unless they know someone whos invested and/or involved within the crypto movement.. just need more well known and most frequent sites to start using crypto as form of currency which will greatly help get the information of its existence out to the masses.. i heard facebook is going to have their own coin, if that is indeed going to happen or has already, that would boost knowledge of cryptos existence in a big way, since facebook is globally used and junkies on it everyday lol.. xD

Not only that, it's price is also volatile and has adittional fees which may cause the owner to have lesser profit or additional profit. Nevertheless, it is still good to have more payment options to attract certain customers.

I use it a currency. I bought games and hardware from it. You also can get pre-paid credit cards. Doesn’t work in every country due to laws.

I‘m not a broker or anything that tries to make more of it or waits for a huge pump. I just see it as currency.

i just used mine literally today, to pay off some things back in the Philippines while i am here in Dubai. :)

it's faster and more convenient than sending money to my bank in the PH, have it withdrawn by someone like my mom to go to different banks or establishments then pay off everything i have to. 😅

Well to show off how really Bitcoin will replace the stock currency someday it really needs to at least be of physical use as what your topic stated and well thats a really very great and good news. Time will come where the world can never deny the Bitcoin's importance anymore.

truthfully i dont know of any where that takes btc as it is other than casinos. I would be cool to have places that take btc places that i shop for things at. If these places were better advertised it might help change peoples views of btc from some black market  currency to what it really is the future of money.

We kind of do use it as a regular currency in a way when we put bitcoin on our bitpay visa card we just exchange it from our wallet to cash and use it as usd.  So in a way we do.

Yeah, so far, the 3 most common places for bitcoin is on the dark web, online casinos, and trading exchanges (or buy and sell networks). Sadly though, most stores and physical shops do not accept crypto :( One day they will, I am almost sure of it.

A lot of online shops provide a payment method for bitcoin and other crypto’s. In my language over 20 Webshops so far and i‘d Bet they‘re not the only ones around in my country.

physical.. meeeh.. there is a map showing where, but it’s rare.

people are just not used to it and bigger shops just don’t need it.

I don't know for sure if it's true or not but i am guessing from all the countries Philippines is the only country that would first pick up Bitcoin rather than any other country.

Not many places where I come from will not accept it. In fact, where I come from, I don't know whether anyone actually accepts Bitcoin yet alone any other currencies that are crypto. Only cash and direct debit where I come from. No organisations risk profiting with Bitcoin, they only want to profit from major $£ money.

The most use exchanger for payment. So they have a middle-man. You pay your crypto and they will pay the owner Fiat in the end.

Since this was posted in March, the landscape of retailers accepting BTC has definitely increased.

The higher rate of adoption is recognisable in online services, with the majority getting on board.

More positively, there were only so few cases in which a company/organisation stopped accepting BTC as payment.

The purpose of investing in bitcoin in order to gain more profit. Lots of people at first sight invest in bitcoin for that. I am not alternative of them. I am going to buy some more coins this year because the price is getting lower as usual. And obviously in 2020 the price will be higher again. Waiting for the better days.
