Friends on Stake. Can u spot a Con?

Featured Comment

So I've been fairly active On stake over the past month.

I've discovered the community made a few posts and in the process I believe that I've made a few friends, maybe even a couple enemies.

I know I'm a fairly good judge of character but sometimes I make mistakes when it comes to who I choose to befriend.

Like most, I like to tip friends when I'm able to, without any expectation of any kind of return. I feel great when I send a tip to someone and they truly appreciate it.

But every now and again I find people I thought were friends giving me not so subtle hints that there looking for more then a conversation.    Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with a friend asking for some help or a loan, but when it begins to feel like the only reason they've contacted or ever contact me is to see if Ill send a tip or loan crypto, it kinda burns my ass.

You can't exactly accuse them of it. (Well I suppose you could if your not worried about offending)  but its usually not too hard for you to see that someone is being a mooch or even worse a con.

Sometimes its not as black and white as that though. The cons are really good at pretending to be your friend, only to soften you up for a loan or tip down the road.

Then there's always the players that want to be your friend right after they see you've posted a big win, tipped people or made it rain.  That doesn't necessarily mean thier mooches or cons but it defiantly throws up a few red flags for me.

I want to make friends here. That's part of the reason I come back to Stake. Its more then just a casino to me, its a community that I enjoy being a part of.  However, like any community there's the good and bad people.  You can't always judge a book by its cover, meaning that initial impressions aren't always a great way to decide weather to befriend someone or not.

I have a ton more thoughts on this subject, but rather then go on I think I'll wait for other thoughts and opinions, then comment and question further.

How do you distinguish between the good, bad and in between? How do you deal with them.  I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this subject.

Thanks for reading Friends ; )

You've already answered your own question.  The people I consider friends don't ask me for coins.

You're doing it right!  If you have a big win and want to share with friends then do so, just as you say, without any expectation of return.

There are a couple of threads here about online friends who had a falling out over tips, money, and/or loans.  Free money all too often brings out the worst in people.  In the worst case /ignore is very empowering and very much your friend!

Good Luck!

A lot of people send me random friend requests, and PM me asking how I am etc. They wish me good luck via PM and say how much they lost (probably hoping I will tip them). I mean, I generally ignore these types of people, although, I may ignore them if it gets too much :D

If you spend over a year in here and you come into the chat multiple times a day you will know what you can call friends. The people that add you after youre bet shows up on HR arent your friends... The real friends would tell you to stop on a high streak. Of course people even your friends will ask you for some refreshments but you dont take it as begging you know they would do the same. Just spend your time on here whisely and earn your experience!

Well, friends here can mostly be made out of tips trivias etc. Although, there are kindly people who can be very friendly to you without tipping them or something, chat has plenty of them. However, there are many people that just pms when you win and asks for loans and stuff pretending to be your friends or something which is very irritating and so we can report them.

Well put Wry, friends don't ask for coins. No one on this site should come in with the expectations that others will give them money. If you ever feel like tipping others, that is your own prerogative but it is your choice to make and no one should ever make you feel like you should tip them out of friendship. If people really want free money, there is always the faucet or the can earn it here on forum.

I get a lot of Friend requests from beggars mostly , they add me first then come into my PM and chat like a cool person and then tries to get some money off me by saying something that makes us feel guilty.

I agree with you. Basically, communication with people unfamiliar to you ends with up they ask for a loan and disappear.

I've just gotten to the point where I'll accept friend requests from most everyone, but if they contact me and it's just to ask for a loan or to beg I just immediately ignore and remove them.

Also I'll go through my friends list every once in a while and look for users that have been perm muted and remove them as well.

Ain't got time to deal with that nonsense XD
