Why Not keep Old stake as a permanent secondary option?

Featured Comment

Hey Stakers

As a fan of the old stake platform, I am missing it very much. In my personal opinion, a couple games play a bit different compared to new platform.

I was wondering why they didn't keep the old platform as an option for the players . They kept the link for a little while in the footer but for a couple weeks they got rid of it completely.

What do you think the reasons were for not keeping it? Was it too expensive to maintain both platforms perhaps?  Or maybe they wanted to move on from the old and bring in the new. Personally I thought it was great having both but perhaps it's time to move on.

I am completely satisfied with the new Stake. In the old version of the game were slower than now. And I like the new design more. I am not a supporter of the old and always welcome something new. Maybe not everyone will agree with me.

In my opinion, it is superfluous to maintain the old platform. So the casino would not stand the cost. In the new platform everyone can enjoy all the games from the old and with a few changes in the settings the experience will be like playing the old Stake.

Here is how the operating systems work. No one wants the new one to give up the old one, but after a while he gets used to the thought of how he could ever have fun on the old version

yeah exactly what ivaylo and polor say, I agree with. I think the main reason Stake wouldn't do this even if players wanted to, is they would have to keep updating it. Even if they didn't update the old site with the new games, their are always security patches that software needs and I guess it would just add alot of extra work to the dev's to maintain two sites at the same time, when 99% of players are just playing on new site.

We had to get rid of the old website cause it reminded us (the mods) that user winstone that was there spamming 24/366.

So now we are trying to forget that horrible experience, and at least the website is not there to remind us ....

Yes that's true and makes sense, it's probably a lot of work to maintain the website even without changes. What I really miss the most is being able to spam the tiles are n mines in manual mode. Can't seem to do it with the new version.

Hahaha...that's as good a reason as any I suppose.  In all seriousness, it's just too much work in the long run to maintain both sites.  Everyone must adapt and grow with the times.  Imagine Windows after releasing Windows 10 saying, "Here is our new product, but you can still use Windows 95 or 98 if you want to....."  It's obviously not that drastic, but you probably get the point.

I do like the old version, I love the new version too. Maybe having both does not really hurt to be honest? I know that the system is a lot different now, obviously the new Hi/Lo and old Hi.Lo might not work, but older version is always really cool. I hope that they have not physically deleted it completely... It was nice. But if it is gone, it's alright :) Sometimes moving on and getting better games and new things are healthier for Stake.

I miss the old Stake only because there were so many good times .  It was so much fun back when things were simple.  Things change sites gets up grades and we move on.

with new games being added it wouldn't make much sense to keep an old version of the site active. Not to mention if someone has an issue at old stake that's more time the developers have to spend working on an old project compared to working on new stuff.

They just kept it in the first is because to ensure that the second site wouldnt have any problems and they could retrieve it easily and why the old stake it is slower .

Remember that the old site was not supported anymore. For that reason, any glitch or error in the old Stake would be entirely at the user's own risk. Therefore, it is safer for Stake to just get rid of it, so they don't need to worry about possible glitches in the old Stake.

Very easy answer. That would require additional server resources. It's like having two stake website instead of one so cost could double. Additional if they keep the old version they would need to continue to fix all the bugs and provide technical support for it which month by month will be more difficult because it is... old. It's like asking why Microsoft doesn't still keep Windows 95 and doesn't support it. The cost of supporting old stake and fixing bugs would increase month by month, year by year. There is a reason why they created completely new version, they wanted to get rid of the old stuff they no longer could fix or the maintenance generated too much cost and problems.

It's always like that everywhere with everything. Some people don't like changes, even I guess most people don't like changes and they miss the old stuff, but the world moves on and there is no choice but to adopt. In a few month nobody will remember the old stake the same they don't remember the previous version when stake launched. Looks liek nobody whats to come back that version anymore? Adaptation to new version is difficult especially when workers need to adapt to new version of application then the cost goes with it since companies need to provide training. Same with stake and everything else, we needed some training on our own as well, it felt strange at the beginning to adapt to the new version but now I love it and I can't imagine going back to the old one. Especially that the new version is MUCH faster! I remember problem I had with my eyes when playing with new version. For example on old Hilo you could see the target profit on the buttons , but in the new version we have nice table now with potential profit. But it was hard at the beginning because I got used to look at the buttons not under the cards and it made me confused for a while and even hurt my eyes because I had to spend more energy to look where is the target profit amount, how much would I earn if I go up or down etc. Now I totally adapted and can't imagine going back to old version. People learn and adapt fast, some do it slower but eventually everyone can do it it's just a matter of time.

why in earth would they keep the old platform after launching v2. it would be a double cost to keep it open and to maintain it. So for me they made the right decision to close it down eventhough my biggest multipliers and wins were on the old stake. I hit very good multipliers with the hilo bot on v1 and seem not to be able to hit those again on v2. but beside that I am happy that only v2 is available

Well, there were many bugs on the previous update. I guess they had to get rid of them with the release of v2. Not much got changed anyways, for me the only annoying part on v2 are just the colours which can harm eyes on a long run.

I suppose some would still like to use the Stake v1.0's platform but I assume this complete removal of it is to encourage a full progression towards advancement of Stake also there is many new features that cannot be implemented in old Stake as well as the current Stake 2.0 might very well be the reason.

I think that this is a great idea, to just have like a button for OG players to return and have some nastalgia from the good old days. I don't know why they don't do this, maybe they scratched the original design but it would be cool to see something like this added in the future.

I kinda like that idea. It would be an awesome idea to have a button somewhere to go to the old design and It would be a great experience in my eyes. I liked the old design. And i prefer it to the new design

I think its actually a very good idea because i see many other sites do the same thing but tbf to stake they like to have their own touch on everything which i dont blame them for copying other people is so over done and happens regulaly but like i said i still think its a decent idea :)

I would be happy even if the old site stayed the same, any new games that came out just add them to the new platform. As I mentioned a big reason I loved the old platform is a couple of the games played different. For instance in this picture I attached, I would get a win like this on mines once every week or two, literally. This was played on manual mode. This just doesn't seem possible anymore with the new mines when playing on manual mode.

The old version was very laggy and full of bugs, which even Eddie has told me that the older versions system was really buggy...plus then they would have to have to either set up and entire new database or have both versions running off of 1 and i'm not sure what would happen when they are updating one version and not the other.

I imagine it was because it was just extra. i mean it be a waste of money to keep a site running that your not focusing your team on. or being maintained. Esp when you have a newer better version of the site that already has most of the traffic that the old site had. it be silly.

but yeah i liked it too. some of the games were faster like mines. . . .
