Dominic Thiem - Albert Ramos-Vinolas pick

Featured Comment

Albert Ramos-Vinolas won the last match he played at this tournament against Casper Rudd in straight sets and it took 22 games. Ramos-Vinolas won 68 percent of his first serve points and 62 percent of his second serve points. Overall he won 65% of his service points and managed to get 4 break from the 8 chances that he had. Vinolas his 3 aces and managed to save 2 of the 4 break points that he offered to his opponent. Albert Ramon is on a run now as he won every single set of his last 7 played and his also ahve a streak of 9 matches won in a row. If his wins this match this will be his second title of the year and his third of his career. As I said earlier Ramos has a great streak as he won 10 out of his last 11 matches played on clay.

Dominic Thiem won the last match he played here against Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets and it only took 17 games to get the job done. Thiem won 72 percent of his first serve points and 79 percent of his second serve points. Overall he won 75% of this service points and managed to get 2 break from the 3 chances that he had. Thiem served 2 aces and only offered his opponent one break points which he did not saved. Thiem has won all of his matches at this tournament in straight sets and also 5 of his last wins overall were in straight sets. If Thiem wins this match he will get his 3rd title of the year and 14th of his entire career. He managed to win 6 out of the last 12 finals where he participated but on clay he has a positive record of 9-7 in finals played. Overall Thiem has won 5 of his last 6 matches played on clay court.

Ramos Vinolas has been playing some great tennis in the last couple of weeks and if he plays the same he's got some chances to win tonight. The problem is Thiem is the second best player in the world on clay court and there is only one player better than him, Nadal. Unless he plays against Nadal on clay court there are not many reasons to go against Thiem in a match like this and that's exactly why I'm going to back him to get the win.

My pick for this match is Thiem to win.
