Using Emojis or Special Characters as a Client Seed

In some other online casinos that I have played before where you, as a player have the ability to modify your own client seed for the purpose of randomizing results of each bet performed, only numbers and letters are allowed to be used. Here at Stake, I find it cool to know that even using an emoji, special characters and even spaces (blank client seed) works or is allowed to be used. That being said, it raises a lot of questions regarding it's effect on the end result and a lot  more. Based on this, here are some questions trigerred:

  • How are the emojis when used as client seed calculated by Stake?
  • Are emojis first converted to raw characters?
  • If yes, since converting to raw characters add up an additional step to calculte the end result, does it affect game play? (ex. Latency)
  • Why do other online casinos prohibits the use of these emojis, special characters or spaces and Stake does not?
  • Does it mean the randomization process used by Stake is different from those others?
  • Does it really impact the end result? (in such a way that the system may just ignore it and sees your own client seed as null)
  • Can these characters really be used or its just something that should be prohibited as it is not being detected as a valid one therefore only server seed is used to determine the outcome?

There are much more questions buggling my mind about this client seedthingy but I assume if this major questions I have will be answered intelligently, I truely believe those secondary questions will in turn be tackled accordingly. I hope some intelligent concern can help me with my questions.

P.S.

Most of my big hits are those times I used different emojis like using 🤑 which signifies dollars for me. Haha! I know it's quite stupid but it really will be appreciated if someone can enlighten me.

Thank you for finding time to check out my post and I would greatly appreciate every comment from all Stakers. Happy New Year guys!

wow, it's very long if it's 5 months, I always replace it every time I think it's not a good seed from my roll :D

I did not think until there, only occasionally do a reset when the roll has reached tens of thousands. and maybe give a funny name to the client seed to make it look attractive. maybe I should try adding emojis in the client seed and hope to get a good profit 😁😁

Changing seed is only a self conforting methode to believe it could change the end result. But in fact. having the same seed all the time have the same effect as changing it. From a statistic point of view, you should have better result by keeping the same seed if you ALWAYS bet the same way and keep track of you betting.

Yeah but i never use emoji at seed. Im typing random letters and numbers, but this time you cant change your seed. For me it never gonna effect your game or the flow of the game, because everything here is already program. It just a game of luck, if you win you are lucky and if you lose you are just unlucky.

But changing the seed is cool tho, when you are viewing bet id you gonna see some random emoji or words. Which is cool but for me it nevers gonna change the flow of the game for sure.

for some people when they change their seed and win big. They call it Lucky seed but for me it just lucky him hahahahha. He is just lucky to hit that noy because of his seed. I respect those people that believing that seed can change the flow of the game. I respect that because we have so different opinion and perspective.

Congrats Nicole for hitting that big multiplier with emoji seed. Congrats i hope you hit again and again hahahha. Good luck nicole and have a nice day.

With all due respect to all your opinions fellow Stakers, I am quite surprise how almost all of you thought that the client seed has no effect on the end result of each and every bet. If you go the time to read down beneath stake.com you must see the link "Probably Fair". Then you may want to click "Implementation". It is writtenthere as follows.

Server Seed

The server seed is generated by our system as a random 64-character hex string. You are then provided with an encrypted hash of that generated server seed before you place any bets. The reason we provide you with the encrypted form of the server seed is to ensure that the un-hashed server seed cannot be changed by the casino operator, and that the player cannot calculate the results beforehand.

To reveal the server seed from its hashed version, the seed must be rotated by the player, which triggers the replacement with a newly generated one.

From this point you are able to verify that the hashed server seed matches that of the un-hashed server seed. This process can be verified via our un-hashed server seed function found in the menu above.

Client Seed

The client seed belongs to the player and is used to ensure the player also has influence on the randomness of the outcomes generated. Without this component of the algorithm, the server seed alone would have complete leverage over the outcome of each bet.

All players are free to edit and change their client seed regularly to create a new chain of random upcoming outcomes. This ensures the player has absolute control over the generation of the result, similar to cutting the deck at a brick and mortar casino.

During registration, a client seed is created for you by your browser, to ensure your initial experience with the site goes uninterrupted. Whilst this randomly generated client seed is considered suitable, we highly recommend that you choose your own, so that your influence is included in the randomness.

You can do this via the fairness modal.

Nonce

The nonce is simply a number that increments as every new bet is made. Due to the nature of the SHA256 cryptographic function, this creates a completely new result each time, without having to generate a new client seed and server seed.

The implementation of nonce, ensures we remain committed to your client seed and server seed pair, whilst generating new results for each bet placed.

Cursor (Incremental Number)

We use 4 bytes of data to generate a single game result, and because SHA256 is limited to 32 bytes, we utilise this implementation of a cursor to give us the ability to create more game events without having to modify our provable fair algorithm.

The cursor is only iterated over when the game being played requires the generation of more than 8 (32 bytes / 4 bytes) possible outcomes. For example: when we need to use more than 8 cards in a game of blackjack.

Th curser starts as 0 and gets increased by 1 every time the 32 bytes are returned by the HMAC_SHA256 function. If we don’t require more than 8 random numbers to be generated for the game events, then the curser does not increment as there is no need to generate any additional possible game outcomes.

Games with more than 1 incremental number:

Hilo (Unlimited to cover required amount of cards)

Keno (2 increments for every game due to 10 possible outcomes)

Mines (3 increments per game for 24 possible bomb locations)

Plinko (2 increments per game to cover possible 16 decisions)

Blackjack (Unlimited to cover required amount of cards)

Video Poker (7 increments to generate 52 possible cards in a full deck)

Diamond Poker (2 increments to cover 10 diamonds: 5 per player/dealer)

Games with only 1 incremental number (represented as default value 0):

Dice

Limbo

Wheel

Baccarat

Roulette

Thus, you can conclude that client seed has an effect on the end result of each bet. Then again, I respect your own opinions and I wish you all good luck!

Hello nicole,
Hnostly I don't know client seed change or not change what will be affact from it. But I was saw that one of player are change with special cherecter and hit big payout in keno too much recently. And another one of player was changed he also got big payout, so I was changed like that and busted all of balance :D . Seems client seed name is didn't effect for our rolls I think.

Hahaha! @htetaungxx your comment made me laugh! Sorry was just able to read it now. Well, at a certain degree I must say or agree with what you said but basically every result on each roll are determined with the end result which is calculated with both the client seed and the server seed. Both are very much randomized and too much hard to decipher. I was just really curious as to how are emojis being calculated or being detected by the Stake system. Other than that may it be a change in seed or what not, it all boils down to one thing and that is our own LUCK! That being said, I wish you good luck and keep winning big mate!

Cheers;
