NBA POWER STANDINGS JANUARY 2020

1.               Milwaukee Bucks (W41-L7)

The Milwaukee Bucks have been outstanding this season, however by the end of January, the Denver Nuggets snapped the Bucks 9 win streak with a 127-115 win. However, Milwaukee's superstars have had amazing stats throughout this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo headlining with 30 PPG, 13 RPG, 5.7 APG, 55.3% FG and Khris Middleton has recorded 20.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 4 APG, 50.6% FG.

 

2.               Los Angeles Lakers (36W-11L)

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a tough end to the end of January, with their former superstar player and Legend, Kobe Bryant dying in a helicopter accident. On January 31st Los Angeles Lakers paid great respect to the late #8 and #24, but failed to offer victory, losing 119-127 to Portland Trail Blazers. Anthony Davis carried the Lakers with 37 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists.

 

3.               Toronto Raptors (35W-14L)

The Toronto Raptors will continue their winning streak after beating the Detroit Pistons on January 31st. Pascal Siakam scored 30 points and Serge Ibaka had added 21 points to lift the Raptors to their 10th straight victory, improving them to 35W-14L.

 

4.               Denver Nuggets (34W-15L)

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, despite missing 3 starters and Mason Plumlee. However they managed to defeat Milwaukee Bucks 127-115. Will Barton dominated the game with 24 points, 10 assists, while Nikola Jokic helped to lift the Denver Nuggets with 15 points, and 10 rebounds.

 

5.               Los Angeles Clippers (33W-15L)

The Los Angeles Clippers suffered a 103-124 lost to the Sacramento Kings on January 30th. The Clippers must perform without their all-star player Kawhi Leonard who is experiencing back issues as well as load management. Lou Williams carried the team with 22 points, and Montrezi Harrell chimed in with 21 points, and 7 rebounds.

 

6.               Boston Celtics (32W-15L)

The Boston Celtics defeated the Golden State Warriors with a score 119-104 on January 30th. Jayson Tatum continued his hot form, putting up 20 points and 6 assists.

 

7.               Miami Heat (32W-15L)

Miami Heat is the top seed of the South East Division. Despite Jimmy Butler playing great in their latest game, the Heat still lost 101-109 against Boston Celtics on January 28th. Butler scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds, with Goran Dragic leading the game with 23 points.

 

8.               Utah Jazz (32W-16L)

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert had 21 points and 11 rebounds after making his first All-Star team. The Jazz have dropped three straight. Jordan Clarkson scored 37 points for the Jazz on a night where their superstar player Donovan Mitchell only contributed 4 points.

 

9.               Indiana Pacers (31W-17L)

Victor Oladipo made his long-awaited season debut on the 29th January at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Indiana Pacers won 115-106 against the Chicago Bulls. TJ Warren carried the game with 25 points, Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon both contributed 15 points in this game.  

 

10.           Philadelphia 76ers (31W-18L)

The Philadelphia 76ers are winners of six of their last seven games, getting star center Joel Embid back in the lineup in a win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday 28th January. The 76ers looked to extend their streak, but were halted by the Atlanta Hawks. 

 

11.           Houston Rockets (30W-18L)

The Houston Rockets lost 112-125 to the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA regular season at Moda Center on Wednesday 29th January. With this result, the Rockets have not been able to find consistency with two defeats in the last three matches. Even though, the Rockets have been assisted by its superstar player Russell Westbrook who scored 39 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Not to mention, James Harden who has recovered from a thigh injury contributed 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

 

12.           Dallas Mavericks (29W-19L)

The Dallas Mavericks lost 104-133 to the Phoenix Suns on January 28th, 2020, Luka Doncic contributed 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, Jose Juan Barea and Jalen Brunson both scored 15 points.

 

13.           Oklahoma City Thunder (30W-20L)

The Thunder defeated the Suns, 111-107. Chris Paul recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the Thunder, while Devin Booker tallied 27 points and 5 assists for the Suns in a losing effort. The Thunder improve to 30-20 on the season, while the Suns fall to 20W-28L.

 

14.           Memphis Grizzlies (24W-25L)

The Memphis Grizzlies lost 111-139 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Ja Morant scored 16 points and 3 assists for the Grizzlies in the losing effort. The Grizzlies fall to 24W-25L.

 

15.           Portland Trailblazers (22W-27L)

It was an emotional evening for the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Blazers were out to spoil what should have been a celebratory night. Tears were shed, tributes were done, speeches were given, and a basketball game was played. The Blazers defeated the Lakers, 127-119. Damian Lillard was unstoppable in this game, he finished with 48 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds.

 

16.           Brooklyn Nets (21W-26L)

Brooklyn Nets new superstar player Kyrie Irving tallied an unbelievable season-high 54 points on 19-23 FG (82.6%) for the Nets as they defeated the Bulls, 133-118, on 31st January, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Nets improve to 21W-26L, while the Bulls fell to 19W-32L.

 

17.           San Antonio Spurs (21W-26L)

The Spurs defeated the Jazz, 127-120. Their new superstar player, DeMar DeRozan led the way for the Spurs with a season-high 38 points, along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Donovan Mitchell tallied 31 points for the Jazz in the losing effort. The Spurs improve to 21W-26L on the season, while the Jazz fall to 32W-15L.

 

18.           Orlando Magic (21W-27L)

The Magic lost against Miami Heat, 89-102. Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 24 points along with 3 assists, while Tyler Herro added 23 points in the victory. Aaron Gordon led the Magic with 24 points, while Nikola Vucevic tallied 21 points and 9 rebounds for the Magic in the losing effort. The Heat improve to 33W-15L as the Magic fall to 21W-27L.

 

19.           Phoenix Suns (20W-28L)

The Phoenix Suns lost against The Oklahoma City Thunder, they fell 107-111. Devin Booker scored 27 points, while Kelly Oubre Jr. tallied with 27 points, and 11 rebounds for the Suns.

 

20.           New Orleans Pelicans (20W-29L)

The top 2 picks of the 2019 NBA draft, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant, went head-to-head for the first time in their careers as the Pelicans defeated the Grizzlies, 139-111, in New Orleans. Zion Williamson led the way for the Pelicans with a career-high 24 points, along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists, The Pelicans improve to 20W-29L on the season.

 

21.           Chicago Bulls (19W-32L)

The Chicago Bulls lost 118-133 against the Brooklyn nets, Although Zach Lavine dominated the game with 22 points, and 8 assists, and it still wasn't enough to stop Kyrie Irving who led the game with 54 points.

 

22.           Sacramento Kings (18W-30L)

Propelled by a franchise record 21 3pt FGs, the Kings defeated the Clippers, 124-103. De’Aaron Fox tallied a career-high 34 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the Kings, while Lou Williams recorded 22 points and 6 assists in the losing effort. The Kings improve to 18-30 on the season, while the Clippers fall to 33W-15L.

 

23.           Detroit Pistons (17W-33L)

The Detroit Pistons lost against the Toronto Raptors on 31st January. Even though Derrick Rose scored 21 points, his 14th consecutive games of 20+ points, they couldn’t win against the Toronto Raptors, making them fall to 17W-33L.

 

24.           Washington Wizards(16W-31L)

The Wizards defeated the Hornets, 121-107. Bradley Beal recorded 34 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the Wizards. The Wizards improve to 16W-31L on the season as the Hornets fall to 16W-32L.

 

25.           Charlotte Hornets (16W-32L)

The Charlotte Hornets lost to the Washington Wizards, 107-121.Miles Bridges scored 23 points and 6 rebounds for the Hornets, made them fall to 16W-32L. 

 

26.           Minnesota Timberwolves (15W-32L)

After leading by as many as 27 points, the Kings comeback and defeat the Timberwolves, 133-129, in overtime. Buddy Hield led the way for the Kings with a career-high 42 points (9-14 3pt FG), while Andrew Wiggins tallied 36 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the Timberwolves in a losing effort. Additionally for the Timberwolves, they knocked down a franchise record 23 3pt FGs (23-44) in the game.

 

27.           Atlanta Hawks(13W-36L)

Trae Young propelled the Hawks to a 127-117 win over the 76ers with a 39 point and career-high 18 assist performance. John Collins added 17 points and 20 rebounds in the victory. Ben Simmons recorded 31 points and 5 assists, while Shake Milton recorded a career-high 27 points in the losing effort. The Hawks improve to 13W-36L on the season, while the 76ers fall to 31W-18L.

 

28.           Cleveland Cavaliers (13W-36L)

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost 109-115 against Toronto on January 30th. Kevin love led the game with 23 points and 4 rebounds. But they still couldn’t stop Toronto winning streaks and fall to 13W-36L.

 

29.           New York Knicks (13W-36L)

The New York Knicks lost 106-127 against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 29th. Julius Randle tallied 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Knicks in the losing effort, making them fall to 13W-36L

 

30.           Golden State Warriors(10W-39L)

The Golden State Warriors have been very bad this season, with the absence of their starters due to injury, the Golden State Warriors are placed at the bottom of the seed. They lost 104-119 against the Boston Celtics. D’Angelo Russell recorded 22 points and 5 assists and made them fall to 10W-39L.

Power rankings are not the same as actual standings. Power rankings are completely opinionated based on certain factors. If Antekekoumpo, were to get injured, OP would probably slide them down a couple of spots, forecasting that they wont be as good without their star player. Standings are matter of fact and only take what has already happened into account

Nice listings you have provided here Jarrod, it sure does seem pretty information as a whole where I am able to know things that I did not before about the NBA teams listed here. :P

the clippers at #5?!!  once i looked at ur top ten i just stopped because ibrely dont agree......its not so bad but it isnt very good....but i woukdnt recommend n i really hope ur power rankings dont influence sports betters to choose their picks according to ur opinions cuz the rankings could be a lil better than what uve posted
