NBA All-Star 2020: PREVIEW

The NBA finally announced the results of the 2020 All-Star NBA voting on Thursday (01/23/2020).  There will be three new faces selected as starters at the 2020 NBA All-Star.

Three newcomers who will appear in the 2020 NBA All-Star are the young Dallas Mavericks star’ Luka Doncic, the Toronto Raptors’ forward Pascal Siakam and the Atlanta Hawks’ point guard Trae Young.

The 2020 NBA All-Star Game, featuring Team LeBron vs. Team Giannis, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the United Center in Chicago.  TNT and ESPN Radio will air the game live in the United States at 8 p.m. ET.  NBA All-Star 2020 will reach fans in more than 200 countries and territories in more than 40 languages.


West All-Star Starters:

Lebron James (frontcourt) has joined the Western Conference starter pool that features the Lakers’ Anthony Davis (frontcourt), the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic (guard), the Houston Rockets’ James Harden (guard) and the LA Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard (frontcourt). 


West All-Star Reserves:

The West All-Star Reserves will features the Houston Rockets’ Russell Westbrook, the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard, the Utah Jazz’ Donovan Mitchell, the Utah Jazz’ Rudy Gobert, the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, the Oklahoma City Thunder’ Chris Paul, the New Orleans Pelicans’ Brandon Ingram.


East All-Star Starter:

In the Eastern Conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo (frontcourt) is joined in the starter pool by the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid (frontcourt), the Toronto Raptors’ Pascal Siakam (frontcourt), the Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker (guard) and the Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young (guard).


East All-Star Reserves:

The East all star Reserves will features the Miami Heat’ Jimmy Butler, the 76ers’ Ben Simmons, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Khris Middleton, the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, the Indiana Pacers’ Domantas Sabonis, the Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry, the Miami Heat’ Bam Adebayo.

The NBA also announced the players who would participate in three special contests at the NBA All-Star 2020, slam dunk, three-point shots and skill challenges. 


The NBA All-Star 2020 slam dunk contest will present fierce competition. Three of them have participated, and some have even been champions.

Dwight Howard will return to participate in the slam dunk contest at the NBA All-Star 2020. The Los Angeles Lakers Center once dominated the 2008 slam dunk contest.

However, this time Howard will compete against Aaron Gordon (Orlando Magic), Derrick Jones Jr. (Miami Heat) and Pat Connaughton (Milwaukee Bucks) for the throne.



LaVine will compete against Joe Harris (Brooklyn Nets), Buddy Hield (Sacramento Kings), Davis Bertans (Washington Wizards), Devonte Graham (Charlotte Hornets), Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Duncan Robinson (Miami Heat) and Trae Young (Miami Heat) Atlanta Hawks).

The three-point shot contest in the 2020 NBA All-Star presents a new breakthrough. There are two additional spots for shooting outside the five traditional shelves that are commonly used.

Participants will have the opportunity to shoot twice from locations within 29 feet, 9 inches. Every shot that comes in will be worth three points.



The last contest is a skill challenge.

Champion of the city of Chicago, Derrick Rose will participate. Rose, who now plays for the Detroit Pistons, will compete against Domantas Sabonis (Indiana Pacers), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), Spencer Dinwiddie (Brooklyn Nets), Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks), Patrick Beverley (LA Clippers), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) ) and Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors).

These three contests will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 2020, at the United Center, Chicago.

The NBA termed what happened Wednesday as a “postponement,” which by definition is a delay. This implies the league expects the playoffs to continue, which would put it at odds with any players who’d rather go home. A collection of heavyweights and union reps, LeBron James and Chris Paul among them, met through the night Wednesday.
