The "right" way to play blackjack

Featured Comment

I realize this post is "old" now. but i just saw the last few replies ^^^^ I could cry lolol.

This is Blackjack Strategy. There is a right way to play. Why? Because if you have 16 and the dealer has a 6, you know they have to hit. And the odds are, they will bust. So if the odds are they will bust, the odds are also, that you will bust. so why hit and maybe bust, when you can stay knowing the dealer must hit, and the odds are the dealer will bust...

Thats not what made me want to cry though. Lmao, *sigh*. When I saw Suddenlybrokes comment that roulette is a game of luck... ohmagooness.

I see I am going to be posting Roulette 101.

I can appreciate anyone that gambles for fun. Even people that are the first to say "I have no clue what I'm doing, dont care to know, i just like to play", thats great.

I dont have any real problem with anyone that plays online everyday, knowing they have no idea how the games should be played, or the odds, or basic standard strategy.

Do what you want with your money. But why would you not take the 10 minutes or even 10 days if it took that long, to learn just a little bit about what you are playing, to increase your odds of winning?

When I was 18, a dealer that had been dealing me cards all night looked at me and said, "you are the youngest player I've ever seen that plays right". I thought to myself, "well, ya, that one dealer here told me what to do". Lol. But I havent thought much about that until now. I just realized that I always thought most people that gamble, say, more than the average person that doesnt gamble, say, at all, has a good concept of gambling in general and has parameters in which they operate and make gaming decisions. This is not the case...

Ill be posting Roulette 101 soon.

Also Axx, did I mention I rarely play Blackjack online... I get sick of the dealers pulling 21 out of nowhere and magically almost always losing by 1. Lol

doubling on 11 against any face, 9,8,7, or ace, is danger. assuming there is a 10 underneath, they already have a hand and

if you don't make your hand you will lose.... as long as you are having fun, thats all that matters : )

I was most fortunate to have a dealer that taught me the basic Blackjack rules the first time I sat at a table. The "right" way to play is very easy to learn. If I were more savvy, I would post a link to any of the sites that you can find one of those little cards they have at Blackjack tables for new players, but I'm not.

Every play you make in blackjack is easily determined by what the dealers card is you can see.

Always assume and play each hand as if the dealer has a 10 underneath. Always.

This is how you know whether to hit or stay:

If the dealers up card is a 7,8,9,10, face card, or ace, you hit.

If the dealers up card is a 3,4,5, or 6, you stay. The dealer must hit soft 16. These are the bust cards.

2s are kind of dangerous because there are a lot of hands the dealer can make. i stay against them, but only because i know the dealer has to hit.

Aces are scary too, but hit against aces, always.

The rules for splitting and doubling are about the same, don't double when the dealer is showing a 7,8,9,10, face, or ace.

I happily double down with 9, or if I'm feeling extra spry, ill double down on 8 if the dealer is showing a 6. But always double dow when you have 10 or 11 when the dealer is showing a 3,4,5, or 6.

There are so many little tricks and ways to play and every hand is different.

Oh, if you feel the need to take insurance, only insure good hands like 19 or better. Yes, I was the idiot trying to buy insurance with 14. The dealer told me no.

And don't split 20, duh. No need to wreck a perfectly good hand.

Anyway, find a card with the basic rules online, or scrawl 7,8,9,10,face,ace hit and 3,4,5,6 stay, split, double on a piece of paper. Thats all you really need to know.

If you are currently playing and have no clue what you are doing, this will change your game completely. Good Luck!

Thank for this...i think to win player should have good logic abou cards...and i thnk what i shared will really help.. Thanks again

Frigid, they are all the same. Basic Blackjack Strategy guides are all the same concept. The charts might look different, but the numbers don’t change.

The one you found looks a little “advanced”, as far as what to do after you hit. But if you can follow and understand it, that’s great.

Except you can't play the right way here....Every time I split aces or 8's I get raped, anytime I get 13 and draw its a 10/face card.  The dealer doesn't get 21 4-6 games in a row multiple times in the casino.  All rules go put the window when playing online...and yes I've played in several casinos like MGM, Bellagio, Hard Rock, The Venetian, as well as some smaller ones in Denver and Louisiana.  This doesn't even compare to how live BJ plays put....Hows it possible to get a 10 Every time I get 13?  And back to back games allllll the time...and yes I know this game is "Provability fair" but I am telling you in the real world it doesn't happen and I've seen a lot of 13's in my 10+ years of gambling at casions.

I’m sure you know then that this is called a small sample ^^^. And it doesn’t matter where you’ve played, blackjack is blackjack is blackjack. I’ve seen some sh$t irl, but nothing like the never ending bs I’ve seen playing online. I hate the “r” word, but online blackjack is the most rigged game ever. You won’t see me recommending people to play blackjack online. I think I even said that in my original post. But for people that choose to get eaten alive, at least know basic proper blackjack. Here it is lol...

Also Axx, did I mention I rarely play Blackjack online... I get sick of the dealers pulling 21 out of nowhere and magically almost always losing by 1. Lol

Ya, online blackjack, no, thank you, I’m good lmao.

stake doesn't really use deck for the blackjack but rather use a random number 0-51 for each card (since the suit is meaningless you can also think of it as 1-13) which you can see from verification results and it actually simple more than the real blackjack since all card have equal chance to appear (you don't need to subtract the card already appear from the deck)

also to put it in simplest term, compare your hand to dealer face card and imagine you'd get the same next card as dealer. if it favor you, hit. if not, stand. (if it busted you but make dealer able to get 17+ you should hit it anyway since at least you'll have a chance to not busted from lower card)

as for principle - the 5 and 6 is busted card, always take advantage on them, the 7+ is hit card which dealer always likely to get stand next if he draw 10+ so you should draw until you get 17+, 2 is wildcard and actually have more value than 3 and 4 due to harder for dealer to busted, 3 and 4 is subpar and take it as in-between for 2 and 7

so the strength of dealer hand would look like this (weak to strong): 5 6 < 3 4 < 2 < 7 8 9 < 10ish < A

a very simple chart would be like this:
